Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2016 Honda CR-V

Today on our 2016 Honda CRV, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the current T-connector vehicle wiring harness with a 4-pole flat trailer connector, part number C56158.So, here's what our wiring's going to look like once we have it installed. It is going to provide us with a 4-pole flat trailer connector and all the circuits we need to safely get down the road, like our tail lights, turn signals, and our brake lights.Whenever we're not using it, it is designed to stay on the inside of the vehicle, so we can simply lift our hatch open, and we can store it down by our spare tire. When we do want to use it, we can simply pull it out and so long as we stay away from the latch area, the weather stripping will have enough cushion that it won't damage our wire. Then we can simply close the hatch, and we can hook up.Now, wiring is going to be a custom fit for a CRV. We're not going to have to cut or slice anything. We're just going to have one T-connector that's going to go behind the drivers side panel here. more

I'm going to show you how to install the T1 vehicle wiring harness with upgraded circuit protected ModuLite HD modules. Part number 118781.This is gonna be one of the most important parts of your wiring. This is your module box and what this does is protects your factory wire from any back feed from your trailer if your trailer has a wiring issue. One nice thing about this Tekonsha box is all the wires come into one end here and they attach to a circuit board. On the bottom here there is potting material. That potting material fills the hole inside of this. more

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harnes Installation - 2013 Honda Odyssey

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2013 Honda Odyssey, we're going to be installing CURT's vehicle-wiring harness with a four-pole flat trailer connector, part number C56378. Speaker 2: This four-pole wiring is going to provide your trailer with all the necessary lighting. This includes your left-turn signal, right-turn signal, tail lamps, and brake lamps, so you'll be DOT compliant in all states. The control box receives its own power from the vehicle and has a fuse-protected circuit. This way, it doesn't draw directly from your vehicle's tail lamp circuits. So, in case your trailer has a fault on its circuits, it's not going to affect your vehicle's circuits. It has an included dust cap to help keep out any dirt and debris. When you're using your harness, it just drapes out over the rear bumper, and it gets squished between the weather stripping. This isn't going to cause any damage to the wiring, as there is some play room there. And when you're done using it, you can just fold it up and store it inside your vehicle. more

Best 2009 Honda Fit Trailer Wiring Options

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the best wiring options for your 2009 Honda Fit.Here we've got our best options so you can have a 4-pole connector to provide the lights for your trailer. You've got the Tekonsha, part number 118420 and the Curt, part number 56011. The main differences between these two harness are the shape of the control box and their power output. The Tekonsha's control box is going to have all the wiring coming out of the bottom. This is great because it can be mounted in a way that water can't pool on the bottom to enter inside the box. And this control box also has a potting material that goes all the way throughout the box to keep your wiring secure and connected to the circuit board and keep any moisture from entering inside causing corrosion, which gives this one a little bit more robust and durable lifetime. While the Curt has it's 4-pole connector coming out one side, the rest of its vehicle wiring coming out the other side. Now, this can be a benefit in some ways by separating them but it could also be not as convenient as Tekonsha because it can take up a little more space and the most common point for water entry inside the control box is the connector so, ideally you would have your wiring facing down to prevent any water from collecting on the ends. However, the power rating for the Curt is going to be rated at 3 amps for your stoplights and 6 amps for your taillights while the Tekonsha's power rating is going to be 2.1 amps for the stoplights and 5 amps for the taillights. more

This green wire, this is what provides your right turn signal and right brake light. The yellow wire provides your left turn signal and left brake light. And on each one of these wires, we have a total power output of 3 amps, which is more than sufficient to tow a small trailer with two incandescent light bulbs per side, or as many LEDs as you want because they do draw less power. The brown wire, this is what provides our taillight and our running light signal for all the clearance lights on our trailer, and on this wire we have a total power output of 5 amps, so we could run several incandescent lights on it, or as many LEDs you want. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2009 Honda Accord

Speaker 1: Today on our 2009 Honda Accord, we're gonna be installing the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connection, part number 118420.The Tekonsha T Connector is going to allow our Accord to hook up to our trailer with a 4-Pole flat connection and give all the trailer it's basic lighting functions. Things like your running lights, your brake lights, and your turn signals. It ties into our tail lights on our Accord with a simple plug and play design, which means there's no splicing and no modifications needed to be done. One of the nice things about this wiring harness is, it has an integrated convertor box and what that's gonna do is it's gonna protect your Accord from any overloads or electrical shorts coming from your trailer. It simply stows underneath your trunk, near your spare tire. When you're ready to connect it to a trailer, we can simply draw it out, unbundle it and we're going to run it over our threshold. Now if you're worried about this, no need to worry, because the weather stripping is gonna give it enough padding to where it will not get crushed once our rear hatch is closed. You will want to be sure to stay away from that latch. more

Off to the left we have the CURT T-Connector, part number C56215.The biggest difference that we found between our two wiring harnesses is when it comes to power output. Our CURT T-Connector wiring harness here has more power than what the Tekonsha has to offer. For our turn and our brake light circuits, we have total power output of three amps per side, whereas on the Tekonsha wiring harness we have 2.1 amps of power output per side for our stop and our turn signal circuits. more
